Only 2 weeks to go for online entries to be submitted for the Sanlam Portrait Award 2019. R100 000 prize money is awarded for the best portrait. Online entries have opened for the 2019 Sanlam Portrait Award, which celebrates and showcases the best original portrait artwork in South Africa. Initiated and hosted by Rust-en-Vrede Gallery in 2013 and sponsored by Sanlam Private Wealth, the award offers a significant monetary prize of R100 000.
With less than two weeks remaining until entries close on 31 May, the competition now offers emerging, amateur and professional artists a chance to submit their entries online at www.rust-en-vrede.com.
This biennial competition has attracted thousands of entries over the years. Sanlam Portrait Award is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the South African art scene and is open to artists 18 and older who are permanently resident in SA.
Convened by Stefan Hundt, curator of the Sanlam Art Collection, this year’s adjudicating panel will consist of Dr. Elfriede Dreyer, Pfunzo Sidogi and UK-based judge Charlotte Mullins.
