Sophiatown the Mix offers the most intimate acoustic jazz in the City, combined with a ‘gift-box’ sized heritage exhibition in the original 1930s Sophiatown home of A B Xuma. We call it the coolest venue with the hottest history in SA!

To mark the month when we celebrate our continent we host The Maccabis – taking us to new horizons with afro and modern jazz! With space to dance and our lovely garden we promise an evening not to forget with original music and old favourites to jive to with your besties! Keys, sax, bass, drums and vocals – in Sophiatown it’s a night for a party!

Well known and loved on the Jozi music scene including Katzy’s, the Maccabis are the perfect accompaniment to a Jozi jol where all are welcome in traditional African style. Best outfit representing our continent wins tickets to the next Jazz Encounter!
