An inspiring showcase of talent to celebrate this year’s Youth Day from June 16 to 18.
In Blood Musical, a unique, vibrant and heart-warming production presented by African Sinakho Arts in partnership with the National Department of Arts and Culture the National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform will be staged from 16 to 18 June at the State Theatre Drama Theatre.
Written and directed by Bukelwa Cakata, this inspiring showcase of talent by artists with different kinds of disabilities from various Rural areas around KZN. In Blood was conceptualised by Ndileka Santi, features a cast of 80 performers with various disabilities sharing the limelight with able bodied dancers.
In Blood Musical is centred around the life of Duduzile, a blind village girl whose uplifting story of perseverance to attain success, love and prosperity, regardless of life’s hardships, continues to touch the audiences in all performances. The central role is played by Thandi Gcwensa, versatile singer, actor and songwriter who happens to be totally blind. Her amazing talent and determination inspired the plot of the musical.
Tickets range from R200 to R100 for group bookings of 10 or more people and pensioners. Tickets available at Computicket. The school’s performance is free to learners in school uniform.
A preview performance of In Blood will be given at 17:h00 (admission free) on 15 June. The public opening is on Thursday 16 June at 19h00, with a school’s performance on Friday 17 June at 11h00. And the final performance on Saturday 18 June at 19:00. The performance is two hours with a 20-minute interval.
