Artscape is hosting the in (s)kin / language auditions.
One black female and one black male in their twenties who are able to play a range of characters of different ages and genders.
Three other performers (two/three males, and one female) meeting the same requirements, though they need not be of any specific racial background.
This is a physically demanding, movement-oriented work: performers must have demonstrable skills in this area, and while a formal dance background is not necessary, experience working in physical theatre and/or a contemporary dance idiom would be highly advantageous.
The content of this work will require considerable exposure and intimacy, and performers will need to be comfortable working with emotionally sensitive material and ready to engage with their own personal experiences as a way of informing the material that we will develop and shape as an ensemble.
Preparations: Please prepare the following:
Auditionees will be asked to interpret a short spoken text, as well as present a short physical theatre/dance piece.
Auditionees with a working proficiency in English as well as one other indigenous South African language (especially isiZulu and/or isiXhosa) will be given priority.
Rehearsals and Performance: 5 September – 15 October 2016 at Artscape Theatre
Date: 20 August 2016
Please note: Booking of the audition will be as per appointment.
