Well-known Afrikaans singer, writer and television presenter, Jak de Priester, wrote the theme song for the new Koos Roets film, Hoener Met Die Rooi Skoene and released the music video for this song this weekend!
Jak began his singing career after winning the ATKV Crescendo-competition and recording his first studio album, Sally Williams Nougat, in 2003. 13 years, 8 albums, 1 volume of poetry, a coffee table book on literature and various stage productions later, his career is still on track.
Jak says: “It is a great honour to write the theme song for this Koos Roets film. It has been a while since I last wrote something for TV or film and I was very excited when Alishia contacted me about this project. It was a challenge to write a song for the movie with only a press release and unedited trailer at my disposal. I, however, immediately knew that the song had to have a lively, fifties vibe. The movie title was also included in the lyrics. I hope that the song does the movie justice and tells a story that will inspire audiences to go and see the film.”
Hoener Met Die Rooi Skoene, is a very entertaining thriller-comedy by renowned filmmaker, Koos Roets, which will keep audiences glued to their seats.
“It is a perverse, smart, and humorous murder story with clever twists that will have you holding your breath while laughing at the same time,” says Lizz Meiring, who is seen in the role of Bonnie van der Byl.
Hoener Met Die Rooi Skoene, with guest appearances by Anton Goosen, Leon Ecroignard, Soli Philander and Goitsemang Lehbyeword, will be released in cinemas across the country on 27 January 2017 and is distributed by Ster-Kinekor Entertainment.
