Bongi & Collin and Lebohang Kgapola have both made the first ballot of the International 49th Annual GMA Dove Awards, making nine categories in total.
Bongi & Collin, whose album, “All I want is you” was recorded in the US and produced by Stan Jones, made it to the first ballot for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Recorded Song of the Year, Worship Recorded Song of The Year and Contemporary Gospel/Urban Worship Album of the Year.
Lebohang Kgapola’s live recorded debut album, Christ Revealed, made it to the first ballot for New Artist of the Year, Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, Urban Worship Recorded Song of the Year and Worship Album of the Year.
This recognition cements the two artists’ quest to globalize their music brands. They were both part of the SA delegation that performed at Midem, France in June this year.
While this is just the beginning for them, it’s still a major international recognition worth celebrating. Their fate now lies in the hands of the Gospel Music Association’s professional members who get to vote on this first ballot to determine which artists goes through to the next round ballot. The voting ends on 31 July. Artists going to the next round will be announced sometime in August. We wish them well.
