On Sunday 4 August 2019, The Musical Variety Show in aid of Empowervate will take place at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square in Sandton City at 3pm.
The artists include legend Cindy Alter (Clout fame – “Substitute” and “Save Me”) and the “Yebo Gogo” Vodacom advert personality Michael de Pinna (who is a great singer and actor) as well as Tony Yoko and his Jazz Ensemble led by Wendy Allen-Twyford performing numbers from the Great American Songbook and other easy-listening jazz.
It will be an awesome afternoon – good for company team building or reward or a Women’s Day event as it is 5 days before the national holiday. Everyone is welcome!
Empowervate Trust – in collaboration with the Department of Basic Education – run the Youth Citizens Action Programme (Y-CAP) to provide young learners with project management, social entrepreneurship and life skills through the Y-CAP Toolkit and workshops across each province of the country. They are also given a platform to showcase their impactful and sustainable social, environmental and educational projects at district, provincial and national level.
Y-CAP Founder and CEO, Amanda Blankfield-Koseff, says more than 400 schools, comprising over four thousand primary and secondary school learners from the country’s nine provinces, registered to participate in Y-CAP in 2019. The National Championships will take place in Benoni on 17 and 18 August. The fundraiser is to support the work of Empowervate Trust to empower and motivate the next generation of active citizens and values-led role models.
