National Children’s Theatre is delighted with the four nominations and CEO Moira Katz has offered sincere thanks to the two directors, Francois Theron and Siphumeze Khundayi, and the members of the creative teams. Our new Trust Chairman, Tsholo Mashishi, adds, “This only goes to show that both educational and entertainment theatre have a place in our society. We will strive to do more in future.”

Each season NCT brings to the stage creative and innovative productions that capture the imagination and hearts of children and families alike. Under Moira Katz’s leadership, the organisation has risen to a new level of professionalism, and indeed in the five years since she took over the running of the theatre, 17 productions have been nominated and awards won in 3 of the five years, as well as a best actor award for Gamelihle Bovana in 2016.

“NCT is proud that we try to bridge the gap in the market and audition for and contract young actors who are often looking for their first professional job and the experience they desperately need so that established large professional companies will hire them. We are proud to say that many of these actors go on to become successful professionals.”

It is not often that we get a chance to publicly thank our hardworking admin staff who toil in the background, and without whose expertise our productions would suffer, so thank you to Sydwell Koopedi, Rene Lombardi, Claudy Koert, Gideon Moyo, Terrance Maphuto, Rosie Dhlamini and our trainee Karina van der Walt.
