The Auto & General Theatre on the Square presents an original new musical about divorce, Couch and a Piano, with Cat Simoni and Alan Glass.
Daphne Kuhn presents Couch and a Piano with popular, well-known musical talents, Cat Simoni (Christmas and all that Jazz, Judy Garland, Barbara Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald tribute shows) and Alan Glass (Not the Midnight Mass, Beautiful Creatures). It will be directed by Paul Spence.
A gloriously funny session of musical therapy with an edge, it opens on 14 August and will run for a limited season until 25 August.
Jo, a recent divorcée, arrives for her first session with Cape Town’s top psychologist, Carl Zimmerman. Apart from the expected couch in the consulting room, there is a Steinway baby-grand piano and a couple of guitars. Here Carl uses music therapy to work through divorce issues. In this 60-minute musical rollercoaster-ride, they lay bare their broken hearts through song and chat. By the end of the session, these two total strangers are ready to fall in love again. It’s musical fun for all…
