Ekurhuleni Jazz Ensemble was formed in 2015 in Daveyton. Local artists met to discuss the challenges they faced and possible solutions; as a result of those discussions, the ensemble was born. The band consists of musicians from Ekurhuleni region. Their repertoire ranges from Jazz standards to African Jazz, contemporary, classics and popular arrangements.

Since the band was established it has been performing at community events, local Jazz venues and participated in the Africa Month’s celebrations at Niki’s in Newtown. It also performed at Embizeni Arts festival commemorating OR Tambo and at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
