Avenue QAvenue Q, the award-winning comedy musical with all-nude puppets, is now on stage at Pieter Toerien’s Montecasino Theatre until July 15.

Avenue Q is the winner of the 2004 Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book. Described as ‘part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart,’ this laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q.

He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighbourhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

Filled with gut-busting humour and a delightfully catchy score, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favourite for audiences all around the world.

Avenue Q
stars Ashleigh Harvey, Ryan Flynn, Daniel Geddes, Grant Towers, Rebecca Hartle, Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri, Graeme Wicks, Nieke Lombard & Songezo Khumalo.

It is presented in South Africa by VR Theatrical and Kosie Smit by arrangement with DALRO.

Please note: Avenue Q is NOT a children’s production. TV programmes like Sesame Street in America and Takalani Sesame here in South Africa teach values and life-skills to young children through the use of puppetry and songs. Avenue Q applies the same principle by teaching real-life lessons and broaching hard-to-discuss adult topics such as racism, pornography and a whole lot more!

So what are you waiting for? ‘Q’ up for tickets today!

Running Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 20 -minute interval.

Warning: mature themes explored through poly-foam puppetry! Inappropriate for children 16 years of age and under. (Avenue Q does employ puppets, but it is not suitable for young children)
