On Saturday morning’s edition of Saturday’s Role With Reno, host Renos Spanoudes spoke to Carla Classen about Stroomop.
New South African adventure film Stroomop is currently on the cinema circuit and stars Donnalee Roberts; Simoné Nortmann; Chanelle de Jager; Ilse Klink; Carla Classen and Armand Aucamp.
In Stroomop we meet five ladies who are all drowning in the rough waters of their own lives. For individual reasons, these ladies end up together on the Orange River for a river rafting adventure. During this adventure, their rowboat is swept away and their guide is lost in the terrifying water. They are left to their own devices to survive in the wilderness, unaware of the fact that their own realities and life abilities have already prepared them for the challenges ahead. Viewers journey with the women on this adventure and have to fight against tears, anger, fear and pain.
Carla Classen (Howled and she forgot to say sorry, A Sense of Touch, 7de Laan), a talented actress and stage artist who won a Woordfees Award in 2016, plays Nixie. “She is a 21-year-old millennial who is very involved with other people through her phone, but in real life, she is an introvert. She goes on this adventure to try and come to terms with her father’s death,” she explains.
