VASLAV is a one man play based on the diaries of Vaslav Nijinsky, that explores the life of Nijinsky particularly his schizophrenia through a dark cabaret style performance by Godfey Johnson.
The play sees Godfrey Johnson at the piano relaying stories and memories from Nijinsky’s life, and painting a portrait of the early part of the 20th century.
This show made its debut at the National Arts Festival, in Grahamstown, in 2014 and has received praise from audiences in Johannesburg and Cape Town since then.
Vaslav runs at the Auto & General Theatre on the Square till 25 February 2017. For more see: Powerful story of Vaslav Nijinsky comes to Sandton and read a review by Artsvark’s Etienne Shardlow here.
