On Saturday morning’s edition of Saturday’s Role With Reno, host Renos Spanoudes spoke to Jessica Denyschen about the Digitize Dance Umbrella Project.
The Ar(t)chive is raising funds through Thunderfund to digitize the Dance Umbrella Video Collection. The producer, Georgina Thomson, who officially ended the festival in 2018 deposited the collection with The Ar(t)chive for posterity and research purposes.
This project has been run at The WITS School of Arts for the last 8 years, the last 5 of which were not funded. This campaign aims to raise R50000 to get the collection digitized and stored in the cloud. The aim for The Ar(t)chive is to eventually sell education licenses to institutions to view all of these collections easily online and in so doing making The Ar(t)chive sustainable and ensure the posterity and longevity of South Africa’s dance heritage.
The Thundafund Campaign focusses specifically on the Dance Umbrella Collection. Take a look at the Thundafund Campaign page here.
