Thursday evening saw The Tenors take to the stage for a run at The Mandela at the Joburg Theatre Complex. 12 Tuxedo clad men opened the show with a medley from Composer Handel that ended with a rousing rendition of his Hallelujah chorus. The show went on to bring the crowd many firm favourites including songs from the Rat Pack, Barbra Streisand, Billy Joel and a medley of James Bond hits over two halves.
The singers were backed by recorded tracks and a four piece band comprising South African musicians. This well rehearsed show was clearly enjoyed by the audience, who got to their feet and danced in the aisle as these European singers brought us their arrangement of Freshly Ground’s hit Doo Be Doo.
A great time was had by all.
