The 5th annual Showbiz Entertainment Africa (SEA) conference, led by industry experts, will be taking place at the Soweto Theatre on 26 and 27 September.
The event is open to all creatives willing to invest in their careers with a vibrant exhibition of industry suppliers, live entertainment, and food vendors in the exhibition area which will be open for both event days and free for all to attend. The expo area is a great way to spend the day and offers visitors invaluable discounts and connections with leading players in the game of entertainment.
The coveted conference will run simultaneously on both days as well. On the first day of the conference, you can look forward to the legendary John Kani who will be imparting wisdom from his 34-year career in the industry. Staying on the cusp of cutting edge new technology and developments we will discuss the now and the future of a digitally savvy/aware creative entrepreneur with a panel discussion on the topic “Getting Ready for the 4th Industrial Revolution” after which Industry Development Manager for the SABC, Nirvina Singh, will be discussing the intricacies of doing business with the public broadcaster, a must-attend session for anyone with dreams of breaking into the industry on a national level. Commissioning Editor for Entertainment at the SABC (TV Content), Milly Summersgill, will host a session equipping conference attendees with techniques necessary for proposing TV content to the national broadcaster and before we end the day with an intimate networking session.
The second day will prove just as valuable with topics like “Ways to Make it as a Creative Entrepreneur (The Real Hustle)”, and “Secrets of a Social Media Trend – Digital Viral Marketing” presented respectively by Avril Joffee – Head of the Cultural Policy and Management at Wits School of Arts; and Lauren Dallas: Founder of the Growth Academy and Co-Founder of Future Females. The prestigious venue, Soweto Theatre, will present a session on “Rights Symposium” which will be facilitated by Nomsa Mazwai. We get deeper into the legal nitty gritty with Munyaradzi Chanetsa: Head of licensing and new business at Capasso for his topic “Staying on the Rights Side of Online Entertainment” and open a panel discussion titled “Your Work, Your Copyright” through which we’ll discuss the impact of the 2017 copyright amendment bill. This will be before we hear from entertainment hustler of note Siya ‘Slikour’ Metane: Founder of SlikourOnLife, in his session called “How to Up Your Creative Hustle Online”.
With exhibitions, conference and networking sessions, SEAfrica is the ultimate business meeting place for industry start-ups/small business, talent, managers, entrepreneurs, students and other role players in the entertainment industry to stay ahead of the dynamic and ever-changing industry.
