Sibikwa Arts Centre seeks Project Manager


Contract Position: 17 Months (1 August 2019 – 31 December 2020)

Sibikwa Arts Centre, based in Benoni, will be spearheading a project, funded by the Department of Arts and Culture, to develop and implement arts and culture programmes in collaboration with community arts centres, community arts organisations and municipal and provincial governments in four provinces: Free State, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Limpopo. We are looking to appoint a project manager to oversee, implement, monitor and evaluate the project.

The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Managing four provincial coordinators and six service providers
  • Planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing the work plan for all activities
  • Overseeing the implementation of schedules, monitoring workflow, and reviewing and evaluating work outputs, methods, and procedures for quality assurance
  • Coordinating assigned activities with outside agencies and organisations
  • Overseeing specific activities and guiding and liaising with assigned staff
  • Developing a risk mitigation plan
  • Overseeing all financial procedures, including budgets, cash flow, expenditure, sound financial reporting, and adherence to financial policies
  • Developing and implementing tools to monitor and evaluate project outputs, outcomes and impact
  • Representing Sibikwa and project partners at the council, provincial and other project-related meetings
  • Writing weekly, monthly and close out reports
  • Any other duties which may occur to ensure the smooth running of the project

  • Relevant qualification in project management, or something similar
  • Be able to travel extensively to the four provinces
  • Drivers’ licence and car
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project administration and at least 2 years’ in a managerial position, within the creative and cultural industries
  • Strong Admin and Organisational skills
  • Excellent writing, reporting and communication skills
