Wathint’ abafazi, wathint’ imbokodo! What better way to commemorate those fearless females of the past then celebrating the present?
Thunya Lerole, Sibikwa’s Dance Season, kicks off on the first weekend of Women’s Month with Mzansi’s Young Female Choreographers in Action.
In its quest to always unearth and nurture young talent, Sibikwa has given six young, female choreographers the opportunity to create a new piece under the mentorship of critically acclaimed dancer and choreographer Nelisiwe Xaba, known globally for her powerful and thought-provoking performances. Arts journalist and academic Robyn Sassen will – together with Nelisiwe – provide the choreographers with final notes and feedback.
Get ready to be blown away by the talent of Grace Barnes, Katlego Mogola, Tania Vossgätter, Thoko Seganye, Palesa Matabane and Sikelelwa Qwazi as they premiere their new dance pieces on Saturday 5 August at the Sibikwa Theatre.
No dance enthusiast can miss out on this awesome opportunity, MC’d by Lakin Morgan-Baatjies, to be part of South African dance history in the making, so join us for this fabulous, once-off showcase and experience the passion of Mzansi’s wonderful new female choreographers.
