Johannesburg; The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz is honouring exceptional contributors of the arts at a star-studded, Great Gatsby themed evening at the Sandton Convention Center on Saturday 24th August 2019. The event will be hosted by Radio Personality Lupi Ngcayisa, who hosted Oleta Adams’s concert at last years’ Road to Joy of Jazz.
The evening will be celebratory, paying homage to some of the sharpest minds in the arts, whose contributions have shaped the trajectory of the arts industry. We will convene to celebrate these trailblazers and recognize them for their work.
Performing on the night is the remarkable ensemble of musicians who has been doing great in the jazz scene Luyanda Madope (piano), Siphelelo Mabuza (drums), Lwanda Gogwana (flugel horn), Thembinkosi Mavimbela (double bass), Sisonke Xonti, Senzo Ngcobo (trombone) alongside Spha Mdlalose, Titi Luzipo, Lindiwe Maxolo and Sakhile Moleshe.
“Once again this year we celebrate some of the industry’s trailblazers and while they are still with us. Last year we had a Woman’s HeART – about game-changing women in music, this year we want to include all makers of art, young and old. We have a beautiful youth jazz band playing on the night and who is better than Lupi to host such a momentous event for us…” commented Ms Mantwa Chinoamadi – Producer of the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz.
The Jazz Honors is part of the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival, scheduled from the 26th – 28th September at the Sandton Convention Center. For more information on the festival, the line up and ticket information, visit: http://www.joyofjazz.co.za/home
