Presented for the second year in succession in collaboration with the PE Musical and Dramatic Society, A Grand Night for Singing, in January next year will salute the twin Richard Rodgers songbooks, with lyricists Lorenz “Larry” Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, with several surprises thrown in along with the song, dance and comedy.
Returning to lead the female core cast will be Shannon Hubbard, who impressed in the 2016 revue, joined by female new Showtimers Abigail Ranwell, Amber April, Emma van der Westhuizen, Isabella Rosochacki, Kayla Mathiesen, Kelly-Lee Jeffrey and Kyla Smit.
James van der Merwe is also back from last time, joined by Arthur Daniels and Sean Cady.
The dancers will be Britney Shaw, Gia Smith, Ma-Bell Muller, Rachel Parker and Skye Phillips.
Also back from two years ago will be a group of 12 singing boys and girls from Charlo Primary School. Although they will be seen in many company sequences, they will be specially featured in two routines in the show.
As was the case in 2016, Marlene Pieterse will direct, with Wayne Hughes as Musical and Vocal Director, while Siobhan Day makes her debut as a Showtime choreographer, after winning many Clover Showtime Junior Awards for her dance and movement staging in various High and Primary School productions.
Rocky Mann and Lance Bright will also again be the technical consultants, with Gwen Davis as Production Secretary, Brenda Ower as Special Assistant to the Producer and Director, and Dot Billson as costumier.
A Grand Night for Singing will be the 26th birthday Clover Showtime Revue and will run from January 23 to 28, 2017, including the senior and junior awards nights.
