Acclaimed gallerist and curator Teresa Lizamore celebrates 35 years in the contemporary art industry in 2017.
To celebrate this benchmark year, Lizamore & Associates, kicks off their calendar of art exhibitions in with a retrospective exhibition curated by Lizamore titled 35 years: A Lizamore Perspective, which features a selection of artists which represent an overview of Lizamore’s time in the industry.
As an extension of this exhibition, Lizamore will also be curating a special installation from her private collection which will be titled A Room of Her Own. This acknowledges Lizamore’s role as one of the few curators and gallerists who has been consistently contributing to the industry; as well as the sentiment her selection of artworks hold in her home.
Over the last 35 years, Teresa Lizamore has curated more than 300 contemporary art exhibitions and projects, and has worked with some of South Africa’s most sought after artists and intellectuals in the industry. She is known in the industry for her dedication and contribution to the industry and how she has assisted in launching the careers of many an artist. Still actively involved in the industry, she will continue contributing to the building and expanding of a bustling South African art industry.
This exhibition opens on 2 February 2017 at 18:00 and ends on 25 February 2017 at the Lizamore & Associates gallery, 155 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood. Artists on exhibition include Diane Victor, Nel Erasmus, David Koloane, Pat Mautloa, Rosemarie Marriott, Benon Lutaaya, Robert Hamblin, Zolile Phetshane, Justin Dingwall, Mandy Coppes-Martin, Gordon Froud, Guy du Toit, Wilma Cruise, Collen Maswanganyi, Marco Cianfanelli and Karin Preller amongst many others.
