This year’s 969 festival , now in its 14th year promises to build on its hugely successful reputation of staging the best shows from the National Arts Festival including the main and fringe.
Curated by Gita Pather, Director of Wits Theatre, Wits 969 Festival has become a featured and popular highlight of the Joburg cultural calendar with sold out shows, and over 70% audience attendance over the two week period that it happens. 969 runs from 19 to 30 July 2017, with lunch time shows during the week for schools and a packed evening and weekend programme that features the range of performing arts by South African and international performers
Entries are open to all artistes who have been accepted to the Main or fringe festivals at this year’s National Arts Festival who wish to feature their productions at the Wits 969 Festival this year Please send your entries that you submitted to the festival for consideration.
The 969 seeks to show work that pushes boundaries, features new voices, offers dramatic insights, and highlights performance, technique and innovation. Shows that are accepted will be offered between 1-3 performances with venues, venue, technical, marketing and front of house support. Please note that we offer no travel or accommodation costs but are able to refer out of town performers to preferred suppliers who offer the theater better rates.
