The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra is proud to announce its first Debut Gala concert on February 25 at Artscape Opera at 18:00.
This symphonic platform for community brilliance will feature several amazing young Capetonians, all performing for the first time in a mainstream symphony concert with the CPO. Please note the dress rehearsal is NOT open.
This celebration of talent by artists across Cape Town’s communities will be conducted by Brandon Phillips. Headline acts are singing stars Paxton Fielies and Craig Lucas, jazz pianist, Kyle Shepherd and the Khayelitsha-based singing group Heavenly Quartez. Others in the show include percussionist Emilio February, singers Talitha Luiters and Janelle Visagie, wheelchair dancers Anda Mthulu and Chelsea Hendricks, Luke de Kock and his Classic Men dance troupe, four young CPYO violinists and members of the ZipZap Circus. Brandon Phillips will conduct; the show is being directed by Aviva Pelham, and Nawaal Howa will be the MC.
Says Louis Heyneman, CEO of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra: “Cape Town has an incredible array of talent, much of which never has the opportunity to perform with a symphony orchestra. Their time has come, and we are delighted that Idols winner Paxton Fielies, winner of the 2017 The Voice, Craig Lucas, and Heavenly Quartez will all perform with the CPO. Heavenly Quartez has sung before in regional concerts with the CPO, bringing the house down every time with their glorious voices; Fielies and Lucas will sing some of the songs that made them justifiably famous and Kyle Shepherd will show us why he already has an international reputation. The purpose of the concert is to create a professional platform for musicians.”
Don’t miss this musical journey from symphonic pop, jazz, and rock to light classics!
