The Playhouse Company’s fresh new staging of the classic musical, The Sound of Music, is a hit! So say audiences and critics alike.

As at 1 December, with an entire month of performances still to go, over 20 000 tickets to this favourite family musical have already been sold.

Described by one critic as “a constant delight … an ideal family treat for the festive season … captivating and magical,” another said “The Playhouse Company assembled a heavyweight creative team to craft a production which is fresh, vibrant, and captivating. And they have succeeded in spades … there were no weak performances and one can only say – well done, all!”

Yet another critic awarded the production five stars and referred to a world-class cast and world-class performances.

Happy faces and jubilant compliments have been the reactions of audiences so far: “What a fantastic show! My whole family enjoyed it so much that we’re coming back again,” said one delighted audience member, while another enthused that it was the best production of the musical he’d ever seen. Yet another wrote on The Playhouse Company’s Facebook page: “Spectacular show! Loved every minute of it!”, while another patron said “Absolutely magnificent show. Congratulations to all for a magnificent opening night.”

Tickets for The Sound of Music are selling like hot cakes, so audiences are encouraged to avoid disappointment and book soon.

The Sound of Music is playing in the Playhouse Opera Theatre until 30 December 2016. Discounted parking is available from the Royal Parking and the Albany Parkade. Patrons are asked to have their tickets stamped after the show.
