South Africa’s premier professional dance and training academy, MIDM, will host its annual auditions at MIDM’s studios in Newtown on 12 and 18 January.
MIDM, Moving into Dance Mophatong, internationally recognised for its Afrofusion signature technique, recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary as a full-time dance training institution and has been the primary feeder into the broader dance industry. Focused on training youth from disadvantaged communities and equipping them with the skills needed to overcome poverty and social ills, MIDM has developed a reputation internationally as an incubator producing a multitude of award-winning dancers and choreographers in addition to arts administrators and teachers.
Locally MIDM has produced eight Standard Bank Young Artist Award winners for dance.
The training course is South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited and covers dance choreography, technique and additional skills to help with placement in the performing arts industry. Job opportunities within the industry include marketing, computer literacy, business planning, performing arts management, financial planning and budgeting.
