Applications for the Market Lab’s flagship programme, a two-year full-time course in Theatre and Performance, will open from 1 August until 30 September, so if you are a gifted, determined individual who dreams about a career in the performing arts, don’t miss this amazing opportunity.

The Market Theatre Laboratory offers a unique curriculum that trains professionals in the performing arts field, providing an incubation space for young artists to find their voice and develop their craft. Students participate in intensive training in various theatre disciplines aimed at developing multi-skilled performances and critically engaged storytellers. They are also introduced to other job prospects in the industry through short courses in stage-management, writing, directing and design. This year, the Market Theatre Laboratory won a Gold Ovation Award at the National Arts Festival for Hani, a play written and performed by second year students, which attests to the rigorous training and brilliant teachers that the Lab offers.

YOUNG HEARTS: Market Theatre Laboratory students will be performing at the South African Cultural Observatory’s National Conference on May 24 and 25 at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg and are part of the youth cohort benefiting from the conference.
