From 28 to 30 September, Redfest, one of Joburg’s premier professional arts festivals, is happening for the third year in a row at Redhill School in Morningside.
It is positioned as a platform for industry professionals to showcase their work over a festival weekend without having to travel out of town, and to provide their audiences with entertainment on their doorstep.
Redfest brings the essence of The National Arts Festival (Grahamstown) and The Hilton Festival (KZN Midlands) to Joburg. The festival takes place on the grounds of Redhill School and provides a welcome alternative outing for the whole family. The focus is on providing quality productions for Johannesburg audiences across the age gap. By combining great performances with a festival atmosphere, Redfest rocks, with food courts, children’s entertainment and an outdoor concert on the lawns round off the festivities.
The festival curator Matthew Counihan and his team are currently busy finalising the performance line-up. Counihan says that “from its modest beginnings in 2016, Redfest grew by its audience figures by 600% in 2017 and we are aiming to double that growth this year,” ensuring that Redfest remains a fixture on the national arts festival calendar.
For a great all-round family weekend to celebrate the start of summer 2018 save the date for 28 to 30 September, and join, revel in festival fun and the best productions Joburg has to offer.
