Gqisha! The Chant that Calls
So Solo’s officially commissioned play for 2016 is Gqisha! The Chant that Calls and it opens the festival on 23 November 2016. This socio-political play by Khayelihle “Dom” Gumede and Raezeen Wentworth reflects on the war dance of so many South Africans who are striving for a better future. Nhlanhla Mahlangu will perform this piece 10 times during the festival. Renos Spanoudes interviewed Khayelihle “Dom” Gumede about this commissioned work.
