On Saturday morning’s edition of Saturday’s Role With Reno, host Renos Spanoudes spoke to Jacqueline Titus about the Drama for Life Mvuso Project.
Drama for Life Mvuso Project.
It’s show day for the Drama for Life Mvuso School and Community Education Project. This project fosters a collaboration between teachers and community artists in the face of extraordinary psychosocial challenges. The project has received a Service Excellence award from the Gauteng Department of Education.
The project brings together a group of practicing artists and school educators from selected secondary schools in Johannesburg to receive a one week intensive short course training in introductory Applied Theatre and Drama methodologies with Drama for Life, Wits University. This project offers trainee-participants the opportunity to put their newly acquired skills to the test by creating dynamic and exciting representations of contemporary social issues with young adolescents. This process culminates in the creation of a platform for young people to share and witness narratives by and about their current lived realities.
