La Traviata pays tribute to one of opera’s most celebrated heroines, Violetta Valéry. Based on the 1848 novel “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas about the real-life courtesan, Marie Duplessis who died at the tender age of 23.   La Traviata, is the poignant tragic opera about the love story between star-crossed lovers, Violetta Valéry and her one true love, Alfredo Germont which ends tragically when Alfredo’s father, Giorgio Germont, forces her to end their relationship so that he can protect his family’s reputation.
