The Market Theatre Foundation seeks applications from highly motivated and dynamic individuals for the post of: Audience Engagement Strategist (Contract).
The Market Theatre is a national stage that stimulates, provokes, and delights with ambitious programming created to ignite local, national, and international engagement. For 40 years, the Market Theatre has presented shows that have inspired generations of artists and audiences and employed some of the most creative professionals from South Africa.
An Audience Engagement Strategist at the Market Theatre Foundation must be able to respond to the evolution of the institution and its growing business units which includes the Market Theatre Laboratory, Market Photo Workshop and the Windybrow Arts Centre. An Audience Engagement Strategist is required to sell productions across the Market Theatre’s different stages as well as be able to sell the Market Theatre Foundation’s institutional brand and develop a loyalty base of audiences for its varied business units.
The Market Theatre Foundation invites applications from dynamic and motivated individuals who possess:
- A basic qualification in the arts
- A good understanding of the theatre genre;
- A strong network in the theatre / arts industry;
- Strengths in social media communication;
- An ability to craft story angles that can assist in pitching sales
- Identifying and developing loyalty bases from which to drive sales
- An ability to identify, attract and engage targeted audiences that can complement the institution’s larger communications strategy.
The incumbent must have effective communication skills and be able to generate earned income through tele-sales, social media marketing and the development of loyalty schemes for the artistic product of the Market Theatre Foundation. The incumbent will report to the Market Theatre Foundation’s Branding & Communications Manager.
The successful applicant will be appointed on a basic salary plus commission basis on a one year fixed contract with consideration for renewal subject to performance.
