Sophiatown Jazz Encounters are hosting the only Johannesburg performance of the Tune Recreational Committee (TRC) winter tour on Sunday, July 30 at 17.00.
This special evening of Sophiatown Jazz Encounters offers the chance to hear these world-class South African musicians playing from their 2017 album ”Voices of our Vision”, described by one reviewer at this year’s Cape Town Jazz Festival like this: “their music was soft, hugging the souls of audience members instead of hitting the ears in an attempt to impress”.
TRC band leader Mandla Mlangeni also formed the Amandla Freedom Ensemble with a highly-acclaimed 2016 album.
This national tour features Clement Benny on drums, Nicholas Williams on bass, Keenan Ahrends on guitar, Mandla Mlangeni on trumpet and special guest Mark Fransman on alto saxophone, flute and accordion.
If you love jazz, then don’t miss this Jazz Encounter. Tickets are R110 in advance and R120 at the door.
Seating is limited in this intimate, historic Sophiatown venue so book in advance for what will be a high-demand evening.
